Lilydale Junior Football Club Presidents Report  – Round 3

Round 3 saw a great representation at the Lilydale cenotaph for the ANZAC Day Dawn Service. We also had a number of junior players and families return to the Senior Club Rooms for breakfast.

On the field and we are still getting mixed results. Well done to 9C for having their first win for the season. The netball had a great win and is second on the ladder. The under 10s had their lightening premiership with 2 wins and two losses. A long day was had by all.

The ANZAC Medal awards night was fantastic on Sunday night with Bob and Bob from the Outer Eastern Vietnam Veterans R.S.L. Bob McKay was entertaining and it is always great to see these living legends in our club rooms.

Dyson Heppell is coming at 5.30 p.m. on Friday 1st May. The tickets are selling fast and there will be a small amount of tickets for sale at the door. All attendees will have access to photos and autographs with Dyson.

The tickets for Bogan Bingo are now distributed with the team managers. The great event is on the 16th of May at the Senior clubrooms. Each team has one table allocated however there is more tickets available if you want to book your own table. Tickets are available through your team manager. There will be games and memorabilia as well as slushies. This event is our major fundraiser for the year. At the end of the season we are looking at purchasing an electronic scoreboard for the senior ground funds permitting.

Best of luck for all teams this week.

Lilydale Junior Football Club Presidents Report  – Round 2

Round 2 saw us have mixed results the under 11s had another good win as did the Under 13s and Under 17c teams.
The Under 17 grading and coaching situations have startled to settle. Unfortunately this issue still seems to consume our time and this time could be used on more productive issues. We are still short of players to play in the Under 17 Premier team and this will be worked out this week.

The Under 14s were promoted at the start of the season to 14A. Unfortunately because the boys didn’t make the Grand Final in 2014 the team was a victim of re-grading by the EFL. I am working with the EFL during the grading matches to rectify this issue. Cody Hirst 15A and Jack Bateman 14A both suffered nasty injuries on the weekend and I wish them a speedy recovery.
The coming round is ANZAC Round and I ask every junior player and families to attend the dawn service at the Lilydale epitaph at 5.30 am. If you can wear something warm in our club colours even better. On conclusion of the service everyone is invited to return to the Lilydale Senior Club Rooms for breakfast. The Lilydale senior club are hosting Montrose at home and it would be great to see you all at the game supporting our club.

We will be having our special ANZAC medal awards night on Sunday night. The night starts at 5.30 p.m. Our special ANZAC medals will be awarded to a player from each team that shows the qualities we expect from our boys. This is teamwork, sportsmanship, courage and leadership. This is the third year we have awarded the ANZAC medal and once again members from the Lilydale R.S.L will be in attendance to award the medals. Drinks will be at bar prices and food will be available for purchase.

Don’t forget that we are having a special visit from Essendon and AFL star Dyson Heppell on Friday 1st of May. Tickets are still available and will be for sale at the ANZAC awards night and from your team managers. The tickets are $15 which includes a hot dog and drink and all access to autographs and photos from Dyson.
Bogan Bingo is booked and the tickets will be on sale next week. This is being held at the Lilydale Senior Club Rooms on Saturday 16th of May. Keep the date available.

Good Luck for Round 3.
